Description

Math is difficult for many, but it doesn't have to be.  This course is designed to be as succinct and detailed as possible, removing the barriers and fear behind the subject, and making it easy to understand. This course covers graphing linear equations and analyzing their different properties.  Each lesson starts with an introduction, explaining the ideas and key concepts behind the topic.  Have you ever felt that the homework assignments given were much harder than the examples shown in books?  Each lesson includes several examples, ranging from easy to difficult.  This is done to help students see how different problems can be presented and written, giving them a more expansive and enriching learning experience.  Knowing these concepts will give students a strong, solid understanding of coordinate geometry providing an essential base for graphing other types of equations in future material.  This course is intended for those with a firm understanding of prealgebra, and preferably some algebra 1 vocabulary and concepts.  Whether you are relatively new to studying the subject or if you need to brush up on it, this course is for you. The content in this course includes eight lessons.  These include:  1.  Graphing ordered pairs and linear equations in two variables.2.  Finding the slope of a line, given the coordinates of any two points on the line.3.  Writing a linear equation given its slope, coordinates of two points, and y-intercept.4.  Finding the distance between any two points in a coordinate plane.5.  Determining the coordinates of the midpoint of a segment in the coordinate plane.6.  Drawing the graph of a linear equation in two variables, using the slope-intercept method.7.  Determining whether two lines are parallel, perpendicular, or neither using their slopes.8.  Showing that a given property of a geometric figure is true, using coordinate geometry.
